    Access won't start

As of Monday Access 2000 will not start on my Windows 2000 machine. It worked late on Friday, wasn't used all weekend. The error message given is the extremely helpful "msaccess.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows..." I have done a repair install as well as a reinstall but it still doesn't work. I am going to do a complete uninstall of Office and hope that cleans things up. Anybody else ever have a problem like this?

Can you start Access from the start menu or not at all? Usually when I've seen this, it was a problem with a particular database rather than with Access itself.

It wouldn't start at all. I even tried logging in as another user.

After uninstall/reinstall it seems to be working now. So much for Detect and Repair!

Detect and repair cures a lot of messes, but it can't fix everything. Oddly enough, it sometimes works better if you have Access open but run detect and repair from Word. Sometimes, though, there's just no alternative to a reinstall. <img src=/S/crazy.gif border=0 alt=crazy width=15 height=15>
