    Changing the language in windows

The price seemed right for a 'foreign' windows 2k. But can I get the computer to speak English? Not so far. Anyone been down this language road before please? Cheers

    Try http://www.text-reader.com/ <img src=/S/cool.gif border=0 alt=cool width=15 height=15>

But seriously, you will have English menus ONLY after installing English (American or British) version of Windows OR after installing Multilingual User Interface Pack.

    According to Microsoft,
"The Windows XP/2000 MUI is sold only through Volume Licensing programs such as the Microsoft Open License Program (MOLP / Open), Select, and Enterprise agreement (or with a new computer as an OEM version at customer request). It is not available through retail channels." (http://www.microsoft.com/globaldev/DrIntl/...q.mspx#MUIques6).

If you want to install MultiLanguage version, follow KB323282: Recommended Installation Order for Windows 2000 MultiLanguage Version

Thanks very much, kaplinb. Yes, I thought I could get around it with an office upgrade. But from your info, I see I'd need to do a windows upgrade. All well, das ist nicht the end of the world, I suppose. Cheers
