    Invoice Numbering (2002)

I'm pretty new to Access and working on an order entry/invoicing database for a farmer. He wants me to start the invoicing numbering at 40000 to differentiate from past invoices (they get entered into Quickbooks later). The invoices will be appended to a new table after each delivery. (Ultimately I'd like to be able to export them to Quickbooks, but that's for another day).

How do I set up the invoice numbering to start at 40000 and continue from there?

    Thanks for your help,

Is the invoicing number a long integer? Is it an AutoNumber field?

Pat, I think we'd prefer autonumbering, however am open to long integer if that'll help the cause. We haven't done it yet.

Umm, Nigel. That post is about optimal browser settings. Can you point me in the right direction?

    Thanks,

<!post=This thread,305635>This thread<!/post> deals with exactly what you want.
Do NOT try to use Autonumbers for producing sequential numbers. It is not appropriate as you will lose numbers in the sequence when you abort a new record.

You might want to take a look at <!post=this post and thread,195604>this post and thread<!/post> as well. It should stop you falling in some common holes.
