Repeated Page Numbers In Index (Word2000)

I'm creating an index for a document. This documents has several different
topics, which by necessity, force me to create 5 different indexes (using
the f switch to designate index type in the XE field). For entries that
only have a single page number, things work fine. Entries that contain
multiple page numbers, however, repeat those page numbers in sets of three.

For example, here are two entries:

Large Cash Item Amount X 1000 Field.............. 21
    Large Transaction Amount Field.............. 21, 24, 21, 24, 21, 24

Does anyone have a clue as to why the index would do this, or how to make it
    stop?

BTW, I'm working off a network drive, and the index is spanning multiple
    documents using the RD field.

    Thanks in advance...

Can you verify that the RD field to any document is not repeated? This sort of thing would happen if you accidently linked one file in three times.
