    Office Versions (Office 2003/Any)

Are there any differences, other than price, between the "academic" verion of Office and the "standard" or "full" version?

The applications that are included in the acedemic version are identical to those in the other versions. The other versions however, will enable the user to purchase an "upgrade" edition when the next version of Office is released. The acedmic version cannot be upgraded.

To make it more confusing, Academic is a both a packaged and a volume license program (through selected resellers), while Student and Teacher Edition is a retail program.

Added: Wow, Visual Studio .NET 2003 Professional for $99.99; that's good!
    Volume Licensing for Educational Institutions

Office Student and Teacher Edition 2003

    Hope this, um, clarifies things

Thanks for all the help from everyone. Can the OEM version of Office be upgraded?

Office which has been preinstalled on a new computer can be upgraded.
