WinTasks Process Library

This struck me as a handy site to bookmark:

"The WinTasks Process Library contains information about all common Windows processes and is continously updated with new information. On this page you can find a subset of the most popular processes listed in WinTasks Process Library. The categories available online are: Security Risks, System Processes, and Applications. "

This site is more enjoyable to use with a pop-up blocker deployed. Has anyone tried the software?

I may have my pedantic hat on at present, but would you really ever describe Windows processes as popular? Perhaps "frequently occurring" or "frequently encountered", but hardly popular. They certainly aren't going to get my vote!

No, I wouldn't "really ever describe Windows processes as popular", except perhaps in the eyes of the O/S. Apparently though, the site from which my quoted text was taken believes that they are. But I won't get into the peantics of citations and quote attribution.

I didn't notice. My silent popup killer must be doing its job.

I did try the software and came away with a mixed impression. It was handy enough, but I felt the GUI was poorly designed and I really did not get that much use out of it. I still found myself searching the net for explanations of mystery processes, mainly because the ones I was curious about were not running on my system, but someone else's instead.
