opening stored PST files (Outlook XP)

I have many of my old PST backup files stored on CD. Now since updating to WinXP-SP2 I can not seem to open these files in Outlook XP the same program from which they were originally made. I really need to retrieve some information from one of these CD stored backup files. When I try to open any of these files I get a message that I am not authorized to open the file. How do I fix this? Thanks

If they are on CD** they will have Read-Only attributes which Outlook will not accept.
Copy the pst to your hard drive, right-click > properties and de-select Read Only.

**I believe if they are on a CD-RW that has not been closed this will not apply, so I'm guessing this is a standard CD you have archived onto.

Thank you for the quick response. I will give it a try. You are correct the "read only" box is checked on the CD file.
