    win2k-xp permission problems

    Hi all,
I am trying to troubleshoot for my parents here. Dad has a win2k machine with a motorola cable modem attached to it via the usb port.
Mum has a new xp machine connected to the modem via RJ-45.
Both have internet access, both can see each other on the network and can share the printer.
The win2k machine has a shared folder that is accessable to both, but the xp shared folder can be seen by win2k but cannot be opened due to write permission blocks.
Mum is listed as a user on the win2k machine

Thought:- does dad need to be listed on the xp machine as a user in order to get write permission?

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated

    Regards,

    Allan

Typically you need to create identical usernames and passwords on both PCs for this to work. It is possible to enable the guest account but I wouldn't recommend it.
