    Finding 'My Computer' (xphome sp2)

Some times, straight after startup, if I go to my computer, the little searching torch runs for up to a minute before it shows all connected drives.
Programs run ok when started from the menu or a desktop icon while this is happening.

Anyone got any ideas as to why this happens?

    Regards,

    Allan

Windows will try to reconnect to all the networked drives that are in 'My Networked Places'. If any are not available it will take a while before the request 'times out' and Windows proceeds.

    Alan,
If this only happens during start up, then something is doing some work in the background and is taking up a lot of CPU time.
Do you have an anti virus checker set to run on start up?
I would run "msconfig" to see just what is in the startup sequence. You can temporarily disable some of the suspects and try to reboot to find out what is tying up things.
Go to start>run>type in msconfig and enter. Look in the start up tab for a list of things that are run on every boot.

    Today it is called golf!
