    Report PageHeader CanGrow/Shrink (A2k3sp1)

    Hi All,
    Is there a workaround for a report's PageHeader/Footer's inability to CanGrow/Shrink?
    Thanks.

The workaround is to use the Report header and footer, which does have CanGrow/CanShrink properties. You would normally want a page header and footer to be consistent from page to page, so it makes sense that its size won't change. You can set the properties of the form so that you don't get a page header and/or a page footer on the same page with a report header or footer.

The best workaround I've seen is to create a field in your query behind the report. I call this field "ReportSequencer", so my SQL might look like this (for example):

SELECT 1 as ReportSequencer, tblCustomers.* FROM tblCustomers

Then, just put ReportSequencer as the first field in your grouping/sorting list, and create a header for it. Set the header property to allow Grow/Shrink, and also set the "RepeatSection" property to True. The "force new page" setting should be False.

This will then act like a page header.

    Thanks Charlotte,
I had tried using the Report Header/Footer, but couldn't get it set right. In the following post by Mark Liquorman I see I needed the RepeatSection set to true and force new page to false using a "fake" field's header. I hadn't hit on that combination.
    Thank you again.
