    Import Address Book (Outlook 2000)

Just recovered my Netscape address book again, which was lost after updating the MSN messenger software to the Plus version. After lots of trouble with Netscape I have decided to change email programme. I would like to import this recovered Netscape Communicator 4.7 address book now into Outlook 2000 . It has succesfully imported the internet mails and folders, but can't locate the address book. Manually going to the right folder, or exporting the Netscape address book into LDIF files, into same or a newly created folder, nothing worked. Any more suggestions?
    Thanks,
    M.

For the address book, try importing into Outlook Express first and thence into Outlook. HTH

Thanks, but unfortunately that did not work either. For future reference, I did managed however by exporting the Netscape address book as csw files, and then importing them into my Outlook contacts. That only gives to two small hickups; the first contact of each address book (folder) is not transferred and the distributionlist/groups are gone, but these are easily rectified. At least I have have all my contacts!

Most import programs assume that the first row of a CSV file gives the names of the fields/columns. It sounds as though Netscape skips over this and puts data in the first row, causing that data to be ignored during the import. If that data was too complicated to retype, you could open your CSV file in Wordpad and duplicate the first line. But I suspect you are all set up by now. <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>

For a brief moment in my life I considered changing the subject line to "Outlook Express DOES have a use after all!", but decided that that was not the point I really want to make (grin!).

    Thanks for this tip.

I am using OutlookXP as an interim measure until I can re-switch ISPs and get back to using Eudora 6.x.

The "Import from Eudora" doesn't seem to work, but going via Outlook Express 6.x did the trick. Both tricks, actually (Addresses AND mail folders).

    Thanks again!
