    High CPU usage... (IE 6.x)

    <img src=/S/hello.gif border=0 alt=hello width=25 height=29> Loungers

Some times, I am using many programs, IE, Outlook 2003, Juno, my e-mail client, and I open the Task Manager in Windows 2000 pro, and I see that IE is hogging the CPU, while its inactive. As compared to outlook or Juno?

It scores a wopping 91% while outlook and Juno are in the range of 3% to 7% and they are getting my e-mail?

Is that a sign of something bad, like spyware? i do have the machine patched up, but its not behind a firewall.

    Thanks for any advice.

Whether or not it affects your current problem, it's definitely time you got yourself a firewall - and a proper one at that - before you have very serious problems. Try Sygate Personal or Zona Alarm. More details are available over on our Security Board. HTH

I haven't checked in awhile, but I thought that Juno was free...with the condition that they use your machine while it's "idle". In other words, that something is installed which allows them to use your CPU. You could check your EULA & post back, as I'd hate to spread a false rumor. If it's true, that could account for extra CPU cycles, although I'm not familiar enough with the systerm to know why it shows under IE.
