Why is WinWord.exe running when Word is not? (2003)

    <img src=/S/hello.gif border=0 alt=hello width=25 height=29> Loungers

OK so I open Task Manager and I find WinWord.exe in the list of processes that are running? <img src=/S/confused.gif border=0 alt=confused width=15 height=20>

But MS-Word is not running? Its not on my taskbar, and it is not in the list of applications?

Could Outlook start MS-Word due to the fact that it is the RTF editor, and stuff like that?

    Thanks in advance.

Yes, if you've set up Word to be your email editor in Outlook, then it will run in the background whenever Outlook is open. To confirm this, close Outlook and check the Task Manager again.

Any app that can automate Word could cause a Word process to run.
