    Re-Install XP (XP Professional)

    Hi all

My Windows XP isstarting to become very unstable and so I've decided to bit the bullett and start a fresh.

I was wondering if anyone would have simple instructions or suggest a website for re installing XP from scratch (ie from formatting the HDD).

    Your help is greatly appreciated

    Hi Sonia

Paul Thurrott has a very good article on performing a clean install

You should also consider <!post=slipstreaming SP2,400622>slipstreaming SP2<!/post> before you perform a clean install as it will save time as you will not need to update to SP2 after re-installing XP

    Hi Tony

Thanks very much for the information/links especially the one on slipstreaming. Will definately be slipstreaming once I've done the reinstall.

    Cheers

You really want to slipstream SP-2 before the re-install. It will save you time & effort. Not to mention the odd chance that you might have a problem installing SP-2 separately. A small percentage of service pack installs always has problems.
