    Missing reference help (2002 SP-2)

Leave it to me. Somewhere in the midst of doing a complete system restore (I suppose) I managed to lose a reference:
    Microsoft DAO 3.6 Object Library
I looked in C:WINDOWSSystem32Dao360.dll and it is not there!

    Bryan,
Not the smartest critter on the glacier. . .
. . .but I'm persistent (does that count?)

This DLL is not installed in C:WindowsSystem32, at least not by default. On my PC, it is in C:Program FilesCommon FilesMicrosoft SharedDAO. Is it present in that folder on your system?

But it should be listed by name in the list of references in the Visual Basic Editor. If not, try re-registering it:
    - Select Start | Run... (in Windows)
    - Type regsvr32 "C:Program FilesCommon FilesMicrosoft SharedDAODao360.dll"
    - Press Enter or click OK.

Thanks Hans! Curious that it showed it in System32 when it was displayed as "missing". Reference now restored.
But now I'm getting the following error (Switchboard)
    Bryan,
Not the smartest critter on the glacier. . .
. . .but I'm persistent (does that count?)

Perhaps you must also re-register ADO:

    regsvr32 "C:Program FilesCommon FilessystemadoMsado15.dll"

Also see "Error in loading DLL" error message when you run a Microsoft Access wizard in Access 2002.

    Hans:

    I read the MSKB, but it scared me <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>
I get the attached when I tried to register:
    Bryan,
Not the smartest critter on the glacier. . .
. . .but I'm persistent (does that count?)

Which references are checked, at the top of the list?

Sorry, I got distracted by work (gosh I hate that!).
I did a compact/repair and re-loaded, everything works OK now, but I still don't have the reference. I haven't runevery option in the app. so I don't know what might happen later, but at least it's working now. What is that reference for?

Re: Missing reference help (2002 SP-2)

You already have a reference to the ADO (ActiveX Data Objects Library), only to a different version: 2.1 instead of 2.8. You can't have references to different versions of ADO at the same time. If your database works now, I would leave it as it is.

The "Connection" highlighted in the screenshot higher up in this thread is an ADO object, so when using it in code (in this case, the code behind the Switchboard form), Access tries to load ADO into memory.
