Do any of the suggestions in this MSKB article help?

I just googled for your error number and this was the first item that came up ...

Try turning off "McAfee antivirus and firewall", there may have been a update that did this.

There has been a lot problems with these products lately.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Re: unable to send an attachment (6.00.2900.2180)

Wow, the same error was posted here a couple of years ago (<post#=119860>post 119860</post#>), but no solution was posted.

Random thought: on the off chance that it is related to the file type, try making a copy of the photo and changing the extension to .DOC. Make a note in the message that it is not really a Word document, and to rename it back to .JPG. Does it go?

Nice Idea, but sorry to report that this doesn't work either!

This is really getting to me, as these same photographs were sent to my Mum with no problem and then about six weeks ago this started and I have no idea why!

unable to send an attachment (6.00.2900.2180)

I cannot send an attachment with my email ... I ve had this problem about six weeks now and can't seem to find out the problem, last night I spent an hour on the phone with the NTL technical support and they came to the conclusion that there was probably something wrong with my computer ;-)

OK, if I send an email with a photograph attached all I get everytime is ... 'Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Subject 'lkj', Account: 'notmyname@ntlworld.com', Server: 'smtp.ntlworld.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10053, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F' There is no problem receiving files and attachments. Also, we first noticed this problem when my other half tried to upload a small photograph to eBay, it just hung and hung and did nothing.

We have McAfee antivirus and firewall, but we've had these for the last two years.
We running XP home edition, Outlook Express 6 and Mozilla Firefox 0.8 & Internet Explorer 6

Any thoughts on this would be great as this is driving me mad and I only want to send a photo to my cousin in Spain :-)

thanks

Re: unable to send an attachment (6.00.2900.2180)

I know you have already talked to NTL, but I found this on a Google group - depending on the expertise of the person you spoke to and how new the patch is, they might have missed this/not realised it was necessary?

Poss fix

Also, I found several places where the the problem you are having was blamed on poss Windows XP updates (on your machine), but none that specificially said which update or what to do to fix it!

Re: unable to send an attachment (6.00.2900.2180)

Have you tried checking which browser is the default?
I'd suggest you make IE the default and try sending the email again from Outlook Express.
I realize that IE is not a mail client but it might have done something to your security settings. Check them in IE after resetting it.

Re: unable to send an attachment (6.00.2900.2180)

Sorry that hasn't made any difference .. still getting the same error message, but I'm trying to think how long I've had the mozilla and whether or not there is a connection.

I shall go and have a look on their help forum and see what I can find.

Thanks for all the help and advice
