    WFXMSRVR (XP SP2)

Now that I've installed SP2, I get a warning box that it has blocked WFXMSRVR -- that file is located in WindowsPrefetch .... but what is it? It seems to be a MS Windows file, but if so, why doesn't SP2 recognize it?

Should I tell SP2 to go ahead and allow it?

As near as I can find, that file seems to be related to WinFax. Do you have that software installed? If so, I would allow it. But more importantly, I think you should do a little reading on the Windows firewall and I think you will be convinced to get yourself one of the <img src=/S/free.gif border=0 alt=free width=30 height=15> firewalls that will do a more complete job than the one MS has included.

This is the WinFax SE Mail Server. Winfax Se was distibuted as part of Office 98 and Office 2000. If you have Winfax SE installed as part of one of those two products I'd say allow it.
