    LaserJet 2300 setting problem

Just installed HP LaserJet 2300 on a different computer. Prints OK on A4 paper from tray 2 as desired, but always comes up with message: "Load tray 1, transparency A4" and Attention light flashes - how do I stop this error? Be grateful for any pointers - Nick

    Re: LaserJet 2300 setting problem

I Have a HP 2200, not a 2300, so this may be a little different.

If you go to the Printers Control Panel and double click on the 2300, then click on the Printer menu click on Printing Preferences, then click on the paper tab, what is set as the default paper? If it is not A4 and Plain Paper, change it to those.

Thanks for your comment Legare, however I already had various settings on plain and A4, yet problem remains.

I presume you printed the "Printer Configuration" pages from the printer's control panel, and can't see anything untoward.
The next thing I'd look at is the settings in the printer driver on the PC.

I installed a 2300n last Thursday, and had no trouble at all with it (which will be no consolation to you!).

I hadn't, but having done so they do look OK. Thanks for the further tip.

If you're printing from Microsoft Word, the paper source/paper type settings may be funky, particularly if they were set by a macro developed for a different printer. These can be found in the File>Page Setup dialog.

Thanks very much for the idea, however they do seem to be OK.

Have you tried going to http://www.hp.com/ and putting laserjet 2300 into their Search box? After lots of faffing around you should get to the support area for drivers and FAQs for LasterJet 2300s. Or try this url: http://h20180.www2.hp.com/apps/Lookup?h_pa...y=laserjet+2300

Alternatively, you might pose a question on one of the HP Discussion forums -- if you can find your way in. My URL has lots of my-logon-related stuff in it so it's probably of no use to you.
