migrating from Groupwise 6 to Outlook 2003 (2003)

Has anyone migrated from Groupwise 6 to Outlook 2003?

From an End User point of view are there are major problems to be wary of?

Are you changing the back-end server to Exchange 2003, or are you using Outlook 2003 as your client to access the Groupwise server?

(I ask only to assist others, since I can't help you either way!)

FWIW, as the result of a job change the Bride went the other way, from Outlook to Groupwise, and thinks that the absence of the equivalent to a PST is both much simpler to learn but also much less powerful. Conversely, I would expect that you should provide some user training in what a PST is, and how to use it effectively for storage of user-specific information. Since I don't know GW, I can't say much more. <img src=/S/shrug.gif border=0 alt=shrug width=39 height=15>

Just finished a project of migration with approximately 2000 people. A few significant things you may want to watch for on the client side of things...
    1. Recurring meetings do not migrate across the servers - Groupwise will not send an AutoDate past the Gateway; however, Groupwise will receive a Recurring meeting from Outlook (Exchange Server) but only accepts the first day of the recurrence and drops the remaining recurrences.
    2. Private items do not migrate.
    3. Rules do not migrate.
    4. Saved e-mails that are migrated (Cabinet) are not easily archived - do not drag and drop to a pst - this corrupted the e-mail and it was unrecoverable. Ensure to use the File, Archive feature in Outlook.

That's about it... good luck... trish
