    Masster slides and animation (PPT2002>)

    Hi there,
I have a presentation of about 80 slides. 78 of the 80 slides will have the same title and text animation, so I created it and clicked add to master. This of course assigns the animation to the entire presentation. The other 2 slides I need to customise with a particular style of animation that is different from the master. I cannot change or delete t he animation on these two slides as it is set in the master.

    My question!
Is there a way to get the majority of a presentations animation the same except for one or two slides quickly? I don't want to sit and add the same animation individually to each of the 78 slides!
Can I link 78 slides to one master and 2 slides to another master, with each master having the appropriate animation effect I need???? This will solve my problem easily....I just can't seem to make it work!

    Please Help!!!!
    Regards,
    Rudi

    RudiS,

A quick solution is to assign the animations on the slide master (like you have done) for the 78 slides.
For the extra 2 slides. Either

    (1) Use a blank layout, Add new text boxes and assign them the custom animations that you want.
    Or....
    (2) On the current 2 extra slides....Hold down the CTRL key to select both the current "placeholders" (i.e. Title and bullet list), then while still holding the CTRL key drag them (using the mouse) to make a COPY. Delete the original placeholders. Change the "layout" to "blank". Then you are free to assign you own custom animations to the copied text boxes.

    Hi Taj,
Thanx 4 the reply. Could you clarify though...
After I make a copy of the placeholders and delete the originals, what do you mean by change the Layout to blank. If I do this the placeholders I copyed will disappear? I assume Blank Layout as a slide layout. Do I need to create new text boxes to assign different animation too?
Sorry for my ignorance... what you are suggesting is quite a new technique 4 for!
    Regards,
    Rudi

    RudiS,

    in powerpoint
Go to the Format menu > Slide Layout > Content Layouts (why the blank layout is in 'content layouts' I'll never know) > Blank > Apply to selected slide. Then delete the original placeholders.

This stops the placeholders from being placeholders (or following the slidemaster) . Which If I'd of thought of it originally, is a quicker way than....CTRL Copying!.

    I hope that makes sense.

    Cheers

Re: Masster slides and animation (PPT2002>)

I follow now! Thanx Taj. I will give it a try tonight and see if it works. (The presentation is on my home PC)!

    Just one other question.
More master slides get created when I import slides from other presentations. If I add a new slide into the presentation, is there a way of determining which master it will link to?
    Regards,
    Rudi

I would put the animations on the masters, but I would use this technique to move them for the slides you want to be different.

Yes, this was my initial problem, that I couldn't delete the greyed out animation effect from the master on the slides. I will also try this technique to see if I get it right.
Thanx Echo, for sharing this tip with me!
