    system crash

I have a machine running win2k prof. that constantly crashes when you open html files from explorer. Essentially as soon as you click on the file, explorer grinds to halt, with the rest of the apps following suit. Obviously not opening html files in explorer sounds like a good option, but as this is a web design machine that's just not viable. Any idea's? Cheers.

    Has it only started happening?
Is IE set as your registered prog to open HTML files?
If so, what version? Have you cleared down your temp files recently?

Yep I.E. V5 is the default viewer for html files. The temp files and the cache are cleared on a regular basis though. It has happened only since the the pc was rebuilt to win2k, 3 others were done at the same time with no probs. The plot thickens..... Rob

we had a similar problem recently, it was traced to a DLL file that was the wrong version, the name of which I've forgotten (I know, thats usefull). We had to completely uninstall, delete the Dll and reinstall IE5, and that took two goes to work. I believe the information was dragged from the MS knowledge base.
