    VPN SETUP (XP HOME SP2)

I setup VPN on my laptop which is Windows XP professional with no problems. But on attempting to setup VPN on my desktop system which is Windows XP home, I found that all choices are grayed out on the setup screen following the one which asks if you want to connect to your network at work. Is this is due to the fact that this is Windows XP home or am I facing another issue?

Here are some references I found on Google:
    http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase...p_home_pro.asp
    http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/home/ho.../choosing2.mspx
    http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/e...n/compare.mspx
    http://www.winnetmag.com/Article/Art...536/20536.html

    Give up?!

At the bottom of this web page, it seems to indicate that both XP Pro and Home can "do VPN"...
However, this says exactly the opposite. You choose!

Thanks for your post, John. None of the links that you offered had any direct mention of the VPN differences between Windows XP home and Windows XP professional. So now I am starting to think that there is another problem.

    John,

I just reread your message and saw the inks at the bottom of your message which I had missed before. Now that I see these I am more confused. I guess I need to search for someone that either has successfully set up VPN on a Windows XP home machine or at least has Windows XP home and can confirm that when attempting to setup VPN that the VPN dialog box is grayed out as well.

I suspect you will need XP Pro. Here's another reference.

You know much more about the subject than me, so try Googling for terms like vpn xp home and suchlike.
