    rtdrvmon.exe in temp

I've noticed an odd file in my temp folder lately, rtdrvmon.exe. The properties for this file show it as from RealTek. I delete the file (unknown executable in a temp folder???) but every time I reboot it is recreated. It does not exist anywhere else on my computer yet something keeps putting this file back in my temp folder. I've googled for information on this file and came up empty. I've googled RealTek and found reference after reference to ethernet cards, but I don't have one. Some posts here mention Realtek in combination with an AC97 audio; I've got something of the sort: Vinyl AC'97 Codec Combo Driver (WDM), but it's from VIA Technologies not RealTek.

    Any ideas?

There's a usenet post that says it is related to Lexmark printer software.

Unless you find it running, I'm not sure anything in the temp folder is going to be a problem.

That could make sense, as I do have a Lexmark multi-function printer on the system. Odd though that I've had the printer for more than a year but this program hasn't been noticed previously. I've only noticed it since adding XP-SP2, but that might only be a coincidence. I have checked the Task Manager and this program never appears to be running; it didn't even show up when I accidentally double-clicked it.

I guess this one gets classified as "Mostly harmless" for now. Thanks.

If you were really curious, you could do a registry search for rtdrvmon.exe and see what program or process it was associated with.

Just using the file name as a guide, to my eye it appears to be some type of real time drive monitor, but that's just a speculative assumption.
