Autofill in different locations (Excel 2002)

If you typed John in cell A1, all you need to type is J in A2 and John will appear. Is it possible to add something so that as long as I type the first letter(s) of a name in a list stored somewhere else or another worksheet, the whole name will appear ? (like an autofill function in many programs).

    Thanks.

See the recent thread starting at <post#=412683>post 412683</post#>. Using AutoCorrect was suggested as a solution there by <!profile=BAN>BAN<!/profile>. Just be aware that AutoCorrect entries work in all Office applications, not just Excel.

    TQ2:

One solution is to create autocorrect entries, rather than a list in another worksheet.
Go to TOOLS/AUTOCORRECT OPTIONS, type j in REPLACE and John in WITH and repeat for each item in your list.
In the spreadsheet, entering j into a cell will autocorrect to John. The autocorrect list will be available in all your workbooks.
If you use an upper case letter in REPLACE the autocorrection is case-sensative. Lower case is not.
