    Printing VB Code (VB ^)

I can't find anywhere in "the book" how to print out all the code for a program once I'm finished (or before) so that I would have a record in case of loss or system crash etc.

    Is there such a thing?

VB modules are just text files and you can print them from Notepad if you want. There are inexpensive programs like VBCodePrint , from http://www.starprint2000.comthat allow you to control the formatting, etc., and are available as add-ins from the VB project window. They even have a version for Visual Studio.Net.

    Charlotte:

Starprint's stuff is intriguing because it's so ordered... Pricey though.

    Thanks for the help...

Does VB have the same File>Export option as Office VBA? If so, export all your modules as a daily backup. Most of the files also will print from WordPad or Notepad.

Well, I have to disagree with you there, but then I develop for a living so I pay that much for some of my books! <img src=/S/shrug.gif border=0 alt=shrug width=39 height=15>

    Jefferson:

Actually Charlotte is right... the modules, since they are just text, will print out in Notepad et al, and save in fairly compact files...

Too bad, starprint2000.com's stuff is neat... orderly read-outs, and matchings etc. which (probably) would be even more useful to the novice (me). The problem with that route is that there are a bunch of add-ons etc. like that, and after you've spent a bundle, come down the road a couple (several) months, and you find the usefulness is depleted. Then you are always asking, "Did I *really* need that? Or, conversely, you just find yourself with a several hundred dollar budget for (depletable) resources.

Fine if you're making money on it, but the internalized conversation changes somewhat if you are doing it primarly out of interest / fascination....

    Ah me...

gbCodeLib seems to be a good deal even if it wasn't free...thanks.

    I'll report back after trials.

    Huh? <img src=/S/confused.gif border=0 alt=confused width=15 height=20> The web page begins:
"Version 5.2 of gbCodeLib, a freeware code librarian and programmer's editor, is now available!"

Or am I missing some of the fine print?
