    Format Date (Excel 97)

    I want to represent the day of the week with a single letter i.e. "M" for Monday etc. I cannot find how to do this? My luck it is very simple and I have over looked it.

    Hi Kerry,

    I don't believe you can do this with a format. If a formula will do, try something along the lines of:
    =LEFT(TEXT(TODAY(),"ddd"),1)
    Repace TODAY() with your cell references.

    Cheers
