    Network Drive Access (XP SP2)

I am having an issue accessing a network drive while I am connected through a VPN connection. Access to the network drive worked just fine until SP2 was installed. The issue seems to be related to UNC (universal naming convention) of the server itself. If I put in the IP Address of the server I can connect. My question is how do I continue to use UNC under SP2.

    Example:
    This does not work
    NetworkServerMyStuff

    This does work
    1.2.3.44MyStuff

    You assistance is appreciated.

Can you try a couple of things to get a bit more information.

What happens if you use the fully qualified name of your server (e.g. NetworkServer.mydomain.orgMyStuff)?
The next couple of commands should be typed in a command window, which you can display from Start > Run > CMD
    NSLOOKUP NetworkServer
NSLOOKUP NetworkServer.mydomain.org (replace mydomain.org with the correct name information)

Sounds as though NetBIOS name resolution is being blocked. Do you have the Windows Firewall running on the VPN connection? If so, can it be turned off?

The window's firewall is turned on. Unfortunately it has to stay on.

Try a different firewall, where you have better control.
    I use the <img src=/S/free.gif border=0 alt=free width=30 height=15> version of ZoneAlarm.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.
