Combo box wizard gone (Access 2002)

I have lost the combo box wizard. What can I do to get it back?

How do you mean 'lost'? If you make sure that the "Control Wizards" button on the Toolbox is "down", then create a combo box, do you get an error message?

Microsoft's standard recommendation for problems with Wizards in Access is to download and install the latest version of MDAC. See here (download links on the right hand side of the page)

I always have the Toolbox "down".

When you click on the Combobox icon it creates a combobox on the form but it does not ask you what kind of combobox it is, what is the source, etc.

What version of MDAC should I use? I have Windows XP and Office XP.

The most recent one, i.e. MDAC 2.8. You can download it from the link I in my previous reply, or go directly to Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 2.8.

    Thanks for the link.

This used to work, I am nonplussed that it chooses not to work now. Any ideas?

Probably something got corrupt, but what, how or why, I don't know.

If reinstalling MDAC doesn't help, you can try Help | Detect and Repair in Access.

It happens, Pat. I even had it happen to me on one machine, and you'd think the Wizard would be afraid of if it failed on my machine! In my case, an MDAC install reinstated the wizards.

Thanks to you both, what if I don't have the original Office disks, can I still install the latest MDAC?

Pat, as I wrote twice, you can download MDAC from the Microsoft site. It's a free download, and you DON'T need the Office disks when installing it.

If reinstalling MDAC doesn't help, and you need to repair your Office installation, you WILL need your Office CD.

Believe it or not, I had noticed you mentioning the download of MDAC twice.

However my latest question was "what if I don't have the original Office disks, can I still install the latest MDAC?"

To install MDAC you need the downloaded file, you don't need your Office disks for that.
