    Locking a form (xp)

I can't seem to lock a document so that it can't be altered or copied. I thought if I locked it as a form that would work but the person I sent the file to was able to go right back to the forms toolbar and unlock it. It can't have a password. Any words of advice?

    Thanks.

To specify a password when you protect a document for forms, don't lock it using the Forms toolbar, but use Tools | Protect Document... instead (see screenshot). If someone tries to unlock the document using the Forms toolbar, (s)he will be prompted for the password.

Yes, thank you! However, XP has a different menu:

That is not Word 2002 / XP, but Word 2003. I don't have Word 2003 yet, but I assume that you will be able to specify the (optional) password when you click "Yes, Start Enforcing Protection".

You are actually working in Word 2003... this is the new 'Pain in the Task' for Protecting documents! Under section 2. Editing restrictions, use the drop-down list and select Filling in forms.

On my system when you press the "Yes, Start Enforcing Protection" button it gives the option of entering a password.

Yes, I am in 2003. They upgraded our computers 2 weeks ago from XP and I'm not geek enough to remember that.
