Slipstream Factory I386 from SP1 to SP2 (XP Pro SP1)

I am just now getting around to update my newest laptop (Dell Precision M60) to SP2 that has a factory installed I386 folder. After updating my system or before can I slipstream SP2 into the factory I386 folder sucessfully to the point where it would be as the factory shipped it that way? If I run SFC now my system uses the I386 in the root of "C" instead of asking for the install CD. I want to keep it that way.

Probably you can slipstream SP-2 into i386 folder. Just remember that:

    - Extract SP-2 installation files from .exe before slipstreaming
    - When slipstreaming SP-2, point its Update.exe to folder above i386 (in your case C: root)
    - It will create additional folder "cmpnents" that contains installation files for netfx and TabletPC
    - If you apply SP-2 to your installation, it will create uninstall folder with pre-SP-2 files
    - To avoid it, you must re-install Windows SP-2 upon your Windows installation running i386winnt.exe
