Creating sub-headings in a report (Access 2000)

Is there a way I can add a shaded text box, that will separate my report alphabetically? See attached example

Thanks

In the Grouping window of the report, add a line with your name field.
Set Group Header to yes
Set Group On to Prefix Characters
Set Group Interval to 1

In the Group Header section create a textbox as large as you want.
Set the Control Source Property enter =Left([NameField],1) with the equal sign
Set BackColor to 12632256
Set Text Align To Center

Francois,

Thank you so much. It worked perfectly, however, when I set the Group Interval to 1, it keep the A's together, etc. however they do not stay in alphabetical order. The names move around to An, Al, Au, Ab....

Any ideas why?

In the grouping window, add a second line with your NameField in the Field/expresion column and all leave all the other grouping properties to default.
