Folder toggles in Save-as dialogue (2000/SP3)

Does anyone else get this? Each time the Save-as dialogue comes up, the folder selected is either the one I'm working in, or the default document folder (which is often also the parent folder, but need not be). It toggles between the two. Hit escape, hit F12 (Save-as) again, and you get the other folder.

The background to this is that I hit F12 fairly often so as to increment the file number -- often end up with 'job_ver_14.doc' over a working day, keeping all earlier versions in case of problems. Trouble is, sometimes new versions appear in the default folder, not the one where the earlier versions are. That happens when I change the name but fail to notice the folder it will be saved in. Easy to do. Maybe this is a clever design feature, but for me it's an irritant.

Do you have a macro named FileSaveAs in your Normal.dot or in a global template?

Yes Hans. FileSaveAs.Main, courtesy of WOPR. So the behaviour is a WOPR feature?

    Hi Dave:
Hans is offline right now, but the answer is that it appears so. I don't know if you can modify the FileSaveAs macro or rename it. If you could rename it, you could assign it to a shortcut key & use it only when you wish. I don't know if there's a way to turn this off or not.

Thanks Phil, and Hans. Yes, I might explore those kind of fixes or, now that I know what's going on, just live with it. Sometimes it's simpler to re-program me than the software. But I will take a look at the code in the macro. All the best.

What is this "FileSaveAs.Main, courtesy of WOPR" and where do I get a copy?

    Hello Paul
It's a tiny part of Woody's Office Power Pack, which you buy for your version of Office by going here:

Have fun. The envelope printing module is fantastic. Cheers (it is Friday evening after all)
