Security Settings on Files (XP Pro)

Hi. We have folders for people at work where the only security entries are the person, the SYSTEM and ADMIN. This is fine as only the person whose folder it is is meant to get into the folder. However, the files therein are sometimes needed to be opened by other users, eg if it is emailed or moved to another persons folder. These files have inherited the permissions from the folder and so cannot be opened by other users etc.

Can anyone shed some light on how you can keep the folder secrue, but allow the files to be opened by other users?

You should be able to set the security attributes (including adding other users and permissions) for any single file as you require. However, if a file is e-mailed or moved it should take on an entirely different set of attributes. When it is e-mailed do you mean as an attachment or a URL? If it is moved to another persons folder that person should be able to take ownership if needed.
