    Unread Messages (2003)

    Hi there
I have a user who's mail is automatically unread when it enters her inbox. She is not sharing her Inbox with anyone, she doesn't have any rules set up either. Could you please advise why this would happen and if possible how to fix it?
    Thank you!

All mail in the inbox is unread until the user opens and reads it.

OK - that makes a difference <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15> . It your user is using the Reading Pane, ALL messages are marked as read by default (MS logic?). If you want to use the Reading Pane but don't want the messages marked as read until the message is opened, Tools>Options>Other>Reading Pane and clear the "Mark messages as read when viewed in the Reading Pane" and "Mark item as read when selection changes" check boxes.
