    Hi Al,

when I clicked on your link, it tells me that "access is denied". Not sure what is going on! <img src=/S/confused.gif border=0 alt=confused width=15 height=20> I tried putting the post number in the box at the bottom of the page, but got the same results. Thought you might want to know! <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

    Not For Management

The subject is tongue-in-cheek, for this post is intended for a number of Loungers who may not bother to visit the WFOH forum and thus have not ever <!post=seen this post.,163016>seen this post.<!/post> I was cruising through The Lounge Search function earlier looking for something and came across the trivia that there are quite a number of Loungers who have been bitten by what I call the pick-list-problem. When filling in a user profile for COUNTRY, if you don't click outside the box after selecting, your choice may "scroll" and hence be in error. A large number of Loungers whose "country" shows up as United Arab Emirates, Uruguay, Venezuela or Zambia show other info such as state that make it obvious they were intending for their country to be the USA. As I said, it's trivia, but...

Edited to correct bad link. Sorry 'bout that.

John's absolutely correct, I had a brain lapse and have edited the post with the proper link. Thanks for the catch! <img src=/S/thankyou.gif border=0 alt=thankyou width=40 height=15>

    Al

This problem is endemic, and probably gives the "budget airlines" HUGE amounts of free money, as people scroll their mouse wheels merrily, and end up doing online bookings for flights to Vienna instead of Verona, or Edinburgh instead of Florence -- and so on.

    Re: Not For Management

I can't imagine that people will fail to confirm the correctness of their itinerary before supplying credit card details, but maybe they're in too much of a hurry.

Incidentally, there are three San Jose airports in the Americas (from North to South: San Jose, California, USA (SJC); San Jose del Cabo, Baja California Sur, Mexico (SJD); and San Jose, Costa Rica (SJO)). The one nearest to me is not the most fun to visit. <img src=/S/laugh.gif border=0 alt=laugh width=15 height=15>

    Re: Not For Management

I've been googling for it, but haven't found it. Not so long ago the BBC reported of a British Couple who had found a really cheap way of getting to Sydney. Not only was Air Canada half the price of British Airways or Qantas, but it would only take you half the time <img src=/S/exclamation.gif border=0 alt=exclamation width=15 height=15> They only became suspicious when they got of their plane from London to Halifax and went to the gate for their flight to Sydney .... Nova Scotia. Two Sydney N.S. (although the other one is usually N.S.W).

    Good grief. It's a miracle anyone gets where they're supposed to be going. <img src=/S/laugh.gif border=0 alt=laugh width=15 height=15>

    Re: Not For Management

    Now we know why the airlines use codes, instead of city names. Too many;
    Vancouver (WA) and (BC)
    London (GB) and (CA)
    Santiago (ES) and (CL)
Sydney (NS) and (NS) (been there, done that) and (BC - but spelled with an I rather than a Y)
    Geneva (CH) and (IL US)
    Manchester (GB) and (MA)
    etc ... <img src=/S/evilgrin.gif border=0 alt=evilgrin width=15 height=15>

There is a bit of an aero-myth on how Maui (Kauilu airport) got its code OGG. Have you heard it?

    Re: Not For Management

And so much for another sidetracked thread, as it doesn't appear that very many, if any, of the Loungers with the erroneous profiles have heeded my advice to do a little repair. Oh well, another day, another non-dollar...

    Re: Not For Management

    Al

The title could have been better chosen to refer to Profile Changes, perhaps, and I don't know how many users look in Lounge Matters.

Best to put it in the "News" area when Daylight Saving time is over/starts? Or in "Words from on High". Or is there an Auto-PM facility to tie it down to the apparently mousefully-inaccurate chaps/ms-chaps?
