    Oh dear

So, do you think they'll let PaintShop Pro languish a slow and painless death, or will they attempt to fold the application into a a software suite thereby strangling it in a shorter period of time?

I just wish Google had acquired them.

The faq section on the Jasc site indicates that Corel plan to continue developing the Paint Shop Pro family of products and to retain the Jasc employees. Time will tell but for now the Jasc range of products appear to be secure though the answer to question 5 does talk about long term plans and possible integration with other products.

That is what was said when they took over WordPerfect and just now several releases later have done something with it. It looked like at one time they were ready to dump WP.

Just hope they do NOT turn it in to another CorelDraw product <img src=/S/bwaaah.gif border=0 alt=bwaaah width=123 height=15>

Oh, woe is me! I have NEVER been satisfied with Corel's products and especially so with WordPerfect! I have been a dedicated WordPerfect customer ever since Version 1.0 when they were called WordPerfect Corporation. Their first acquisition was painful, but then Corel did nothing but screw things up and, yes, they were rumored to be discontinuing the product at one time. I'm guessing that this will be similar to Symantec and PowerQuest, but only time will tell. I REALLY hate to see Paint Shop Pro go down the tubes and I hope it doesn't happen. Woe is me!

    Re: Corel Acquires Jasc

I used to be a great fan of Corel Draw until about version 6 when I found Paint Shop. Just last week I was cleaning off the shelves and decided to finally toss the Corel Draw software in the waste bin and the 15 pound manuals headed for the recycle box.

I just hope Corel leaves PSP alone.

I join Al in voicing "woe is me / us".
    Regards,
    Bob
