    Word & Acrobat 6.0 (2002 sp2)

    Hi everybody:

I've been using Word in conjunction Acrobat to create portable documents, and I've been really happy with the way it works, but I'm always looking for ways to improve the process. I was poking around here and I found somebody's email mentioning GhostWord, but since I've walked in on the conversation late, I couldn't figure out exactly what it's for (or even if it is for helping with Acrobat). So, GhostWord aside, what I'm really looking for is a stash of tips and tricks on getting Word to behave with Acrobat. I do have some tips to offer (although I kinda feel like I just tried to teach Gramma to suck eggs). Does anybody have a good place to go? I've been to the Acrobat user group, and they were very helpful and nice, if not particularly hack-like, if you know what I mean.

Thanks to Rebel John for his recommendation to Google GhostWord; I discovered that there's an O'Reilly book called "PDF hacks: 100 Industrial-Strength Tips & Tools " by Sid Steward. Anybody tried it/liked it? Is it good for people who've bought the whole Adobe Acrobat professional tamale?

    Hi Kris,

You'll definitely get something out of "PDF Hacks" if you've got the full Acrobat. There's also hacks on creating PDFs without Acrobat (w/ GhostWord and others). Of particular interest to someone who also frequents this board, there's some good stuff on scripting Acrobat using COM Automation -- so you could control Acrobat from a Word macro.

Obviously I'm a little biased (see signature), but I'd say you'll get your $17.46 worth (that's the current price on Amazon).

There are some sample hacks at: http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/pdfhks/chapter/.

    Cheers,

    Thanks--you should know!
I just got it from Overstock (using Pricegrabber) for 15.80, including shipping!
