NETWORKDAYS not (net)working (97/2000/XL)

I am having a problem with the NETWORKDAYS function from the Analysis Toolpak Add-in.

In the attached workbook, A9 is calculating working days in December/January without holidays and A11 the same period but with holidays, which should be 3 days fewer than A9.

Any idea why both cells show the same answer? (Dates are in dd/mm/yyyy format)

    Tony.

The 3 "holiday dates" you picked all fall on weekends 12/25-26/2004 is Sat and Sunday and 1/1/2005 is Sat.

Great way to boost productivity, give holidays on weekends! Companies could afford to give even more holidays then! (sounds like something from Dilbert).

    Oh - My - God!!

I just knew it would be something I had overlooked, but I didn't expect it to be something quite so dumb! I've been scratching my head over that one for two days.

The phrase about wood and trees comes to mind. Any way of deleting posts from the forum????

    Glad I could help.

A simple trick to help prevent similar errors is to (in the holiday list) display them with the format "ddd mmm d, yyyy" which will give the day of the week, list the month (to make sure not an issue with US vs European date issues) and also the year and can also indicate problems if the "date" is text vs a true "date - value"
