Track Changes in Table (Word 97)

Hi there,

I am using a word document that was produced from a DOORs database (if you dont know what DOORs is assume any database). The word document is a specification that is produced in table format with auto numbering of paragraphs embedded in the table. The text has track changes by another organisation. The table runs over 70 pages and I only need to use about five rows, so I run the 'convertauto_to_hard numbering' macro published on WOPR (Post 296470) to maintain the numbering references, then delete all unwanted rows.

The end result is that I want five rows of the table with original reference to the paragraph numbers with the original track changes unaltered.

My problem is that the after running the convert auto to hard number macro (with track changes OFF), the paragraph numbers still come up as being deleted under track changes. I cannot just accept the deleted paragraph number change - any 'accept change' affects the whole table cell contents.

I have attached a sample table.

What I would like is a method of accepting/getting-rid-of the 'deleted' para number.

Any help appreciated.

Can't you just turn off tracking changes while you do the conversion of the numbers and then turn it back on again afterwards?

Why don't you make a copy of the document, accept the changes, turn off tracked changes, & run the macro.

Does this work for you after the event?

Sub AcceptNumRevs()
Dim aRev As Revision
For Each aRev In ActiveDocument.Revisions
If aRev.Type = wdRevisionParagraphNumber Then
aRev.Accept
End If
Next aRev
End Sub

Re: Track Changes in Table (Word 97)

Ian,

Thanks for having a look. Yes I did have track changes off prior to running the macro. A colleague has just effected the same functionality by:
1. Tunring off Track Changes (via tools menu)
2. Hard typing the number
3. Turn off numbering via toolbar push button
4. Turning back on Track changes

It works fine for him! We both are using the same source file and appear to have the same track change options set (ie no show formatting change, deleted text - strikethrough...). I have deleted some of the sensitve content of the source file and posted it with this response.

Thanks for taking the time to consider my problem.
