Does FrontPage include an HTML validator? (all)

Do any of the versions of Front Page include an HTML validator?
    If so, which versions?

What do you expect the "HTML validator" to do?

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Re: Does FrontPage include an HTML validator? (all)

It strikes me as I think back over the versions of FrontPage that I've used; that FP has gone back and forth on this feature. I know that originally, it automatically corrected the HTML when a page was saved. Designers howled about this, because at the time FP only knew HTML 2, and so "fixed" lots of newer tags that it didn't know about and non-standard workarounds that were being used to handle different browser versions (I think this was FP 97/98). Round about FP 2K they decided to leave everything alone.
I'm now using FP 2002 and you'll find the following under the Tools, Page Options menu. So it is now possible to control where corrections will occur to some extent.
However, if you are looking for a separate tool that will highlight HTML errors (which would make a great learning tool), the answer is no. Nothing there and never has been. (unless it is in FP 2003 - which I don't know about).

    Cheers

Re: Does FrontPage include an HTML validator? (all)

I have FP 2002, but that's on another system.
My main system has office 2003, which did not include a bundled FP.

I was looking for something like the online validators at W3C and WDG, which tell me what does not conform to the stated doctype.
Alas, it is rather tedious to to check online.

The source code for the online validators is available, but, as usual, they are oriented towards running on *ix systems, require Perl and SGML parser, etc., and, in at least one case, has to be installed on a server.

.NET does check for validity of the code, but it misses some things, i.e., flags some things that are actually valid.

Guess I;ll have to put up wit using the online validators.

I'm not sure it's what you want, but I believe there are some online validators that you point at your site and it evaluates the whole thing in one go.

    See my previous posting.
I'm trying to avoid using the online validators.

Duh, Howard, that was obvious. I was suggesting that if you have resigned yourself to using one (seemed to be the case from your post), you might be able to find one that was less "tedious" to use. Forget I bothered.
