    Read only change (Access 2000)

I have a legacy access db that I need to get at and make a copy of so I can work with it. But I get the "read-only" message and the info about not allowing changes etc. I read post 32846 that said use the Open >Command and Settings>Properties and uncheck Read Only. Would that it were so simple. I have no such Open options either in Explorer or Access 2000, as far as I can determine. And when I look at the Database properties within Access, the Read Only and Archive properties are disabled. This whole thing is wrapped iup in a Zip file, which XP opens but I have yet to be able to get it to properly copy elsewhere. Any ideas would be welcome. Thanks.

In windows explorer, navigate to your database.
Right click on the database. Select properties.
In the General tab, uncheck the read only attribute and click apply.
Can you now open the database?
