    Workgroup mode (MSO2K sr1-a)

I kinda understand the difference between the WG and the Internet Only modes...

I saw "NewsHound" (shorelinesoftware.com) used for working in newsgroups via Outlook. It requires though, working in CW mode.

I recall there were reasons why I chose Internet Only mode... But (ashamedly) I cannot recall what. So I went to try and (after backup) set up in WG mode, but ended up with all types of error messages, so I reverted to IO.

I cannot (seemingly) switch back and forth between the two modes, can I? Assuming not, what WOULD I lose by going over to WG mode?

    Regards,

IMO is supposed to be faster at working with POP3 mail and supports IMAP accounts. It also lets you choose your "send from" account with a drop-down next to the Send button if you have multiple accounts configured.

CW is needed for Exchange Server and supports the old Personal Address Book (PAB) files.

The button to switch is at the bottom of a dialog somewhere under Tools>Options..., and has a name similar to Reconfigure Mail Support.

Why don't they set up CW to work with IMAP accounts? To keep it "totally" internal, ie set up for a specific server/config?

This was fixed in Outlook 2002 by doing away with the two modes. Why Outlook 2000 had its limitations was a mystery then and remains one now.

Adding to the earlier list, I think the remote toolbar might not have worked in IMO mode. Hard to remember.
