    Firewire Drive (Home)

I just put a 200 GB drive in an aftermarket external case that supports USB & firewire. My computer is happy to connect using the USB but refuses to see the drive from the firewire. I expected it to be plug 'n play. Any suggensions?

Are you sure that firewire is enabled? Do you have any other firewire devices that successfully connect?

I connect a Canon GL2 videocam to the onboard firewire connection. I needed to also connect an external hard drive so I added PCMCIA firewire card. According to the device manager, the cardbus is working properly. Don't know whether this helps.

Do you the most current drivers for the PCMCIA card? What XP service pack do you have installed?
