Analyze It with Microsoft Excel (2002 SP3)

Exporting Report to Excel using Analyze It with Microsoft Excel button. Text field on report contains the value "79-2". Excel displays "28887". Occurs anytime when field has numbers with a dash. Appears that text is being converted to date. Any Ideas? Thanks

Rather than exporting a report using the Analyze It feature, try exporting the data source for the report to Excel. I believe you are correct - the 28887 is probably something like February 1, 1979 or some such date. You may still encounter some problems, but where there is a consistent pattern, Excel is more likely to see that sort of thing as text. Let us know what you discover.

Exported source query - displayed correctly (as 79-2) in excel. Exported report and 79-2 displayed as 28887.

Hopefully the query export will meet your needs - if not post back and we can discuss other alternatives.
