Outlook contacts shortcut in To field (2000)

    Hi,
I have a list of personal contacts obviously in my contacts folder.
Can I get the To field in Outlook to pick up the name as I type? So for instance, name recorded as George Smythe in the contacts. If I type George in the To field in a new email, can I autofill the rest?

My menu comes from 2003, so the menu location may vary. Under Tools | Options | E-Mail Options | Advanced E-Mail Options check the "Automatic Name Checking" box (it is usually checked in a default installation). Checking this box allows Outlook to 'learn' the most frequent names you place in the "To:" box and autocomplete them. It won't happen immediately, but it should happen after a short time.

Also, to force name resolution of a partial name in the "To:" field, you can click in the name, and press Ctrl-K.

    Does this help?

Thanks John. The Outlook had been re-installed on the computers at work and they presumably hadn't set this to default. I tend not to use Outlook outside of work, so I'm not that familiar with it. <img src=/S/cheers.gif border=0 alt=cheers width=30 height=16> But this has solved the annoyance!
