    Autotext Feature (Word XP)

One of my co-workers has pointed out that he has nothing in Autotext. If he goes Insert - Autotext none of the normal items such as Attention Line, Closing, Header/footer show up in the drop down menu. Has he accidently turned some feature off?

    Re: Autotext Feature (Word XP)

One of the things he might try is to rename normal.dot & let Word create a new one. This should contain his Autotext entries. He can then copy the autotext entries from the new normal.dot to the old one. The steps for renaming normal.dot can be found in Step 3 of <post#=197827>post 197827</post#>. You can also look at the thread surrounding <post#=420765>post 420765</post#> for the identical problem & solution.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it and he still had the probelm. In the end, I copied my normal.dot to his machine and the problem disappeared.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm curious. Did you watch him rename normal.dot & let Word recreate a new one. This really should have worked, unless there is some corruption or virus.
