    Looking For A PC Game...

Several years ago, I remember playing a PC game: Each level of the game consisted of various shapes and sizes of "boards or grids". At the top of the grid would be one or more "dispensers" of colored marbles. The grid had various "gears" scattered about. As the marbles descended downward from the top of the grid, you could use your mouse to click the gears and steer the colored marbles to the deisred position. The overall object was to place the marbles in groups of 4 (2X2) making them explode from the playing field. The game would end if your grid filled up with marbles or time ran out.

When a group of four colored marbles was formed, the resulting explosion would allow other marbles to fall into place, sometimes creating high-scoring chain reactions. As each level (or grid) was completed, a more difficult level would follow. The difficulty might mean more colors of marbles or faster falling marbles. There was also a "builder" included that allowed you to design your own grids.

Hopefully, someone knows of this game... I've searched the web for weeks and cannot come up with it. Any help would be appreciated.

Maybe it's under "variations on Tetris, a game we can't actually mention because we'll get sued." <img src=/S/laugh.gif border=0 alt=laugh width=15 height=15> (Anyway, I never saw that one.)

There have been a wide variety of these games. One I remember fondly, called TriTryst, allowed a lot of customization but wouldn't run under anything past the Win9x series. Look for games like Collapse, which behaves a lot like what you're describing and is available at GameHouse.Com, although I don't know if it's customisable.
