how did it change clock time (xphome sp2)

At 8pm last night I disconected from internet, TURN OFF the computer. At 2am the time went back in UK 1 hour to GMT. When I started up the computer this morning BEFORE connecting to internet the clock in the tray showed the correct time. I cant figure out how that can happen without going on line to synchronise time. Just intrigues me thats all, any ideas please?

I run XP Pro, so I don't know if the Home version is the same in this regard, but you probably have Windows set to change the clock automatically, depending on your time zone.

Microsoft knows a fair bit about Daylight Saving Time now, and adjusts XP accordingly and silently.

Windows 98 never seemed to quite believe itself, and says
"New Clock Settings
Windows has updated your clock as a result of Daylight Saving Time. Please verify that your new clock settings are correct."

Yep thats it. Automatically set for daylight saving time, in my case Greenwich Mean Tme, London etc...thanks for solving that one.
