    pfbackup (2002 SR3)

I'm trying to install pfbackup.exe. Every time I do, I get an Error 1904, which involves outbak.dll not registering. If I press ignore, the installation seems to complete, but I can't find the programme when I open Outlook. Can anyone shed light on this?

Outlook 2002: You Cannot Install the Personal Folders Backup Add-in may help, it does not mention error 1904 (error 1904 means a module failed to register) but the solution may be the same.

thanks very much. This has indeed worked, I think: somehow or other the installation was getting mixed up between the add-ins file in Program Files and the Outlook file in my Documents and Settings

    Re: pfbackup (2002 SR3)

Sorry, I spoke too soon. I've now located outbak.dll where my installation of Outlook wants its add-ins (in my docs and settings, not in Program Files). But it still refuses to pick up; and when I uninstall and reinstall the add-in, the first time round I get a message to the effect that the ordinal 140 could not be located in Mapi32.dll, and the COMS box tells me that there was a runtime error in the loading of the dll. Any further thoughts?

I have had a quick search but have not found anything relevant. I have one suggestion, run Detect & Repair to see if it picks up any faults in the Office installation.

    I'm glad it fixed the problem because I had run out of ideas. <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>
