Re: Linked Table Manager (WIN XP/Access 2003)

It sounds as if there is something wrong with your Access install. We use Access 2003 and the LTM all the time with both SQL Server and Access tables and haven't had any problems. You might try a repair of your Office installation.

Have a look at this MSKB article :
<A target="_blank" HREF="http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;835519">BUG: List of currently linked tables may not appear in Linked Table Manager Wizard in a database in Access 2003

    Michael,

We had the same problem when we were testing Access 2003 and had Access 200 installed. It has to do with the registry setting. You are currently pointing to the 97 Link Manage and need to point to the 2003.
I have to look for the command so you can back and forth but maybe this will help someone else to give you a faster response.

Linked Table Manager (WIN XP/Access 2003)

I am converting Access 97 databases to Access 2003 (Access 2000 file format). All of the databases are FE/BE.
It seemed that I was doing this the right way, but apparently not.
    I first converted the backend.
Then I converted the Front end and tried to use Linked Table Manager to 'refresh' the links to the new backend.
See attached printscreen. The Linked Table Manager is empty !
So I deleted all of the linked tables from my front end (which were linked to the old Access 97 back end) and
    did File/Get External Data/Link Tables
I successfully linked to the Access 2003 backend tables.
Then I went to Linked table Manager and it was still empty.
So I clicked Select All any way and tried to link, and got an error message (also see attached).

The database itself works fine, but I do need the functionality of the LTM.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Here are the two run commands we used for going back and forth between 200 and 2003

    REGSVR32 "C:Program FilesMicrosoft Office 2003OFFICE11ACCWIZ.DLL"

    REGSVR32 "C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOfficeACCWIZ.DLL"

Re: Linked Table Manager (WIN XP/Access 2003)

Thanks guys!! I am having a tough time navigating the Micosoft site, which is why I posted here.
Of course, as soon as I posted here, I lucked into the link you gave me.

I will have our IT folks check this out and make sure the Accwiz.dll is updated and registered correctly, as well as make sure it's pointing where it should be !!

When this gets rolled out, all of the staff here will have Access 97 totally removed and have Office 2000 installed.
I believe this problem shouldn't arise because there won't be multiple versions of Access on their machines !

On my machine, Access 97 is default, and I switch to 2003 for testing.

Thank you for all of your help. I will check back in if the dll issue doesn't resolve this.

    Much, much appreciated !!

Well, that didn't take long !!

I moved the newer dll to C:Windowssystem 32 and all is working well (for now that is0.

Thank you very much - the MS link actually helped !!
